HDPE Bottle, Jar and Jerry Can Sizes: A Practical Size Guide

Choosing a container starts with one question: how much product goes in each pack? This guide lists the standard sizes Modern Plaspack makes in each product type and explains how to pick the right one.

Short answer

For liquids, HDPE bottles usually cover 30 ml to 1 litre, and jerry cans take over from about 500 ml up to 10 litres. Powder jars typically run from 50 g to 2 kg. Tablet containers are sized by volume (cc) or tablet count.

Liquid containers

• Round bottles: 30 ml, 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 600 ml, 1 Ltr and 2.5 Ltr
• Flat bottles: 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml and 1 Ltr
• Twin neck (dose and pour) bottles: 100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml and 1 Ltr
• AK type bottles: 100 ml, 200 ml, 300 ml, 500 ml and 1 Ltr
• Shampoo bottles: 30 ml to 1 Ltr
• Enema bottles: 60 ml, 66 ml, 120 ml and 200 ml
• Jerry cans: 500 ml, 1 Ltr, 2 Ltr, 2.5 Ltr, 3.5 Ltr, 5 Ltr and 10 Ltr
• Milk cans and barni: 500 ml, 1 Ltr, 2 Ltr, 5 Ltr, 10 Ltr and 20 Ltr

Powder and tablet containers

• Round jars: 50 g, 75 g, 100 g, 200 g, 250 g, 500 g, 750 g, 1 kg and 2 kg
• Square jars: 50 g, 75 g, 100 g, 205 g, 500 g, 750 g, 1 kg and 2 kg
• Tablet containers: sized in cc (for example 100 cc and 150 cc), grams or tablet count

How to choose the right size

1. Start from the fill volume or weight on your label, not the container's nominal size.
2. Leave headspace. Liquids need room for expansion and for the closure to seal properly. Powders settle, so a jar labelled 500 g may hold more or less depending on how dense your powder is.
3. Think about the user. Small bottles suit single treatments; 1 to 5 litre jerry cans suit farms, clinics and bulk users.
4. Check the closure. Measuring caps, inner plugs, induction seals and tamper-evident caps all affect which neck size you need.
5. Ask for samples and do a fill trial with your own product before ordering in volume.
