India has hundreds of plastic bottle makers, many of them in Gujarat around Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Prices can look similar, but quality, consistency and service vary a lot. This guide helps you compare HDPE bottle manufacturers before you place an order.
1. Manufacturer or trader?
A manufacturer moulds the bottles in its own plant and can control weight, neck size and quality, develop new moulds and keep supply steady. A trader buys from others. Ask to see the plant, the machines and the moulds, or ask for a video call from the shop floor.
2. Range and matching caps
A wide standard range means you can often start without a new mould. Check that the manufacturer also makes or controls the caps: bottles and caps from different sources are a common cause of leaks.
3. Quality system and documents
- For medicines: ISO 15378, clean-room production, USP Class VI and TSE/BSE declarations
- Drawings with neck dimensions and tolerances
- A certificate of analysis or inspection report per batch
- In-process checks of weight, dimensions, leak and drop strength
4. Samples and trial order
Always test samples with your own product and on your own filling and capping line, then start with a trial order before regular volumes.
5. Commercial terms
- MOQ: standard bottles usually have lower minimums than custom moulds.
- Lead time: ask for the time for standard items and for new moulds separately.
- Packing: bags or cartons, quantity per pack, labelling for traceability.
- Freight: bottles are bulky, so ask how many fit in a truck or container.
